Clinical Services

The SACCADE™ intervention model

Professional supervision

Objectives

All types of autism professionals may request one or more professional supervision sessions with a member of the SACCADE™ team. Our neuropsychologists, psychologists, special educators, psychoeducators, and social workers carry out consultations according to the needs of the professional in question. These individual or group meetings will broaden a professional’s knowledge and understanding of autistic manifestations and improve their familiarity with the SACCADE™ model interventions, including the SACCADE Conceptual Language™ (SCL™).

Depending on the professional’s needs, supervision can include discussing complex cases, helping to validate and/or improve the tools already put in place, or suggesting possible solutions to help meet the needs of and better target interventions with autistic people.

Psychologists and neuropsychologists can carry out professional supervision recognized by the Order of psychologists of Québec.

Target clientele

Any professional working with autistic individuals. Supervision can be done on an individual or group basis.

How it works

  • Interventions may be ad hoc or ongoing, depending on the need.
  • Each meeting lasts 50 minutes, whether in-clinic or via tele-practice.

Please note: Depending on the terms and conditions, the supervision offered by psychologists and neuropsychologists can be recognized as continuing education in psychotherapy by the Order of psychologists of Québec.

Observation, supervision, and recommendations

Objectives

This service makes it possible to better understand autistic manifestations, develop a common vision of autistic people’s needs, and adjust whatever interventions are put in place accordingly. Our individualized and comprehensive approach is designed to allow other autistic people in the group to benefit from them.

Target clientele

Any professional working with autistic individuals.

How it works

  • Observation in the environment with autistic people (either live or by video, shared beforehand).
  • Exchanges between professionals carried out according to the observations made.
  • The duration varies depending on your needs and the number of stakeholders who participate in the supervision group.

Please note: It’s not necessary that all stakeholders have completed SACCADE training to receive this service. However, when FISP1 , LSC1, and LSC2 workshops are followed by an entire professional team, the explanations and recommendations are usually more advanced.

Evaluating complex cases

Objectives

These consultations make it possible to assess the level of autistic development of an autistic person and identify their needs. These assessments are done individually with the autistic person according to the SACCADE™ model. A summary report is produced. Once this assessment is completed, it is possible to discuss the profile and recommendations in a precise and individualized manner with stakeholders. This assessment improves the understanding of complex autistic manifestations and guides your interventions.

Target clientele

Any professional working with autistic individuals. It’s necessary to obtain the authorization of the autistic person or their family to carry out this assessment.

How it works

  • The assessment is done by direct observation or by viewing video footage, combined with interviews with caregivers and family members.
  • Following the observations and interviews, the professionals involved discuss the case.
  • The time this process takes varies depending on the client’s needs and the number of stakeholders in question.
  • Once these steps have been completed, the professionals involved can then carry out individualized supervision.
