Definition
The SACCADE Conceptual Language™ (SCL™) was developed as a specific language for autistic people regardless of their age or of the intensity of their cognitive structure.
Scientific literature has shown how important it is to an autistic person’s perceptive strengths, and the SCL™, a written code composed of various graphic signs—like an alphabet—is consistent with this research.
The SCL™ can be compared to sign language for the Deaf or Hard of Hearing community, with the difference that the SACCADE Conceptual Language™ is evolutionary and empowers the autistic individual to move towards verbal language.
What is the SACCADE Conceptual Language™ (SCL™)? (French only)
The SACCADE Conceptual Language™ (SCL™):
- Acts as a key to help autistic people communicate and understand the world around them.
- Helps foster communication between autistic and non-autistic people.
- Offers a shared system, a shared understanding of signs and meanings for both an autistic individual and someone neurotypical.
- Has a major impact on the development of verbal thought (even for autistic people who use language fluently).
- Provides access to the meaning of the information received by the autistic individual, including social context.
- It’s one of the few existing tools that allows many autistic people to access academic learning in an integrated way.
- It can be used as soon as the autistic person has reached the perceptual level of development.
