Center of expertise in autism

SACCADE, is a Center of expertise in autism that comprises a team of multidisciplinary professionals. They are experienced and specifically trained to offer services to the autistic person. The Center has its own intervention model (SACCADE), its clinic, its training program, and its conceptual tools to help promote the harmonious development of autistic individuals and their families.

SACCADE is a cognitive developmental model from Quebec that uses cognitive and pedagogical remediation using a graphic code called the Conceptual SACCADE Language (CSL). It was developed based on the description of the internal functioning of the thinking structure of autism (Harrisson, 2003).

SACCADE’s founders, Brigitte Harrisson and Lise St-Charles, are recognized as autism experts, both in Quebec and internationally. This duo is unique in that it comprises an autistic person and a neurotypical (non-autistic) person. Both are experienced and surrounded themselves with a team of professionals specialized in autism to meet the increasing needs of autistic people.

SACCADE’s Mission And Values

Our primary mission is to spread awareness of the internal functioning of the thinking structure of autism in order to help people with autism to develop and reach their full potential.

The help we can provide through the SACCADE model allows people with autism to reach a harmonious development by taking into account their cognitive structure which creates unique needs. We believe in the potential of people with autism and we believe we must act immediately, while respecting their identity and integrity.

Our experience indicates that there is hope for them in achieving a good quality of life. It is important to believe in their development, starting with a good understanding of their functioning, while avoiding confusions between autistic manifestations and behavioral disorders. Clinical and professional rigor and ethics guide our interventions and are key values that make SACCADE stand out. We are also committed to act in a transparent manner with people with autism and their families.

With SACCADE, the hidden face of autism becomes more visible than ever!
