Brigitte Harrisson
Brigitte is the co-founder, alongside Lise St-Charles, of Concept ConsulTED Inc. (2006) which became the SACCADE Autism Center of Excellence™ in 2015.
Brigitte began to provide training in December 2003 and hasn't stopped since. She has given hundreds of classes, workshops, and conferences on autism throughout the province of Quebec, in Canada as well as internationally. Brigitte was a lecturer at the Université du Québec à Rimouski as part of their Autism Certificate, which she helped co-author in 2007. She was also a lecturer at the Université de Montréal and the Université Laval in Quebec City and has over 20 years of experience in the health and social services network in the provinces of Quebec and New Brunswick. Brigitte has worked as a specialized consultant for autism organizations, and she has also consulted with families, as well as autistic children and adolescents.
Brigitte Harrisson has served on various committees, including the steering committee of the national network of expertise for ASD (RNETSA), from 2006 to 2011. In addition, she has served as a Director-at-Large of Autism Canada, as Co-Founder and President of SATEDI, Vice-President Canada. She participated in the Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology on PDD in Canada (2006) and the National Autism Conference in Toronto (Health Canada, 2007).
In 2010, Brigitte Harrisson published the book « L’autisme : Au-delà des apparences» which describes the Internal Structure of Autistic Thought hypothesis. In 2003, she collaborated with the CECOM, Rivière-des-Prairies Hospital in Montreal, Canada, on the DVD "L'autisme vu de l'intérieur" ("Autism Seen from the Inside"), she collaborated with the Quebec Ministry of Health and Social Services in 2005 for the DVD «Troubles envahissants du développement et déficience intellectuelle» ("Pervasive Developmental Disorders and Intellectual Disability"), and in 2006 she collaborated with the Fédération Québeécoise de l'autisme (FQATED) for the DVD «Atelier de base en autisme» ("Basic Workshop on Autism").
Brigitte is the author of several books including: L’autisme expliqué aux non-autistes in 2017 (Librex), a bestseller that was translated into over 10 languages, including English (published as New Ways of Understanding Autism in 2019), and L'estime de soi et l'autiste (Autism & Self-Esteem), 2019 (Librex).
