The SACCADE™ intervention model

Clinical Services

Our team of specialists has trained with the SACCADE™ intervention model and can help people with autism regardless of their age or the intensity of their autistic structure.

Here are some of the ways you might benefit from our services, whether you’re autistic yourself, or you’re a parent, caregiver, or professional:

  • Gain support throughout developmental stages.
  • Better understand a diagnosis.
  • Feel better equipped, as a parent or caregiver, to communicate with your child or family member.
  • Decrease anxiety.
  • Understand those around you or help someone else understand those around them.
  • Sleep better or promote better sleep.
  • Explain the diagnosis of autism to parents and siblings.
  • Facilitate learning.
  • Investigate and reduce symptoms of depression or suicidal ideation.
  • Support someone with autism who’d like to find a friend or partner.
  • Develop communication skills.
  • Support teens or adults with employment-related challenges.

How does the SACCADE Autism Center of Excellence stand out?

At its core, our practice is about respecting the unique needs of all individuals with autism. As a result, the SACCADE™ model doesn’t impose any required block of intensive interventions. Because the SACCADE™ model is grounded in the stages of human development, our interventions respect the developmental rhythm and unique cognitive structure of every individual, and our intervention plans propose precise and continuous follow-ups over time.

To obtain services at our clinic, you’ll first have to fill out an Autism Needs Assessment form to establish an individualized intervention plan (there may be certain exceptions for some adults with autism).

We provide services either on-site in our clinic in Quebec City, or via tele-practice, depending on our clients’ needs.

In accordance with the clinical guidelines of major, recognized institutions (for example, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence in the UK in 2013), our interventions combine three central components to optimize outcomes:

  1. Individual interventions, each subspecialized to the individual with autism.
  2. Regular guidance for parents, relatives, or caregivers (including training, explanations, and interventions).
  3. A shared understanding of the internal structure of autistic thought and the types of interventions to be favored across someone’s various environments.
